Professional Development: Observation of Students
You will be required to spend approximately 10 hours assisting in some aspect of the school program with special education students in a local school in your vicinity. It is your responsibility to contact a local school and arrange times that you can be in the school. This project requires a combination of three things:
This assignment will consist of:
1) Your personal journal. This will be a brief, ongoing chronicle of your activities which should include:
a. the name and location of the site of where you observed
b. the dates and times that you worked
c. a brief summary of your activities each time you observed.
This journal will NOT be turned in, but you will need it to compile your observation Report (see # 3 below).
2) Your Log: a record of time and location for each of your observation sessions.
3) Your Observation Report: at the conclusion of this project, you will complete a form describing your experiences.
(Note: Do not include the real name of the individual student(s) in your descriptions.)
Remember, your professionalism and dependability in completing your duties is important.
POINT VALUE: 40 Points Submission turned in on the date due. 2 points Evaluation feedback from the school. 8 points A brief summary of your key observations during each visit and final report form completed. 32 points
